MISSIONS ARE EVERYWHERE!

The word ‘Mission’ often implies traveling to another country to teach and work.  The work done in foreign missions is important, of course, but we can’t all make the trip.  What we can do, however, is be faithful servants where we live.  Mission is about putting the face and name of Jesus in front of those who don’t know him.  We can do that in many ways – any place and any day.  Some of the ways that Memorial Baptist Church is active in Missions are:

  • Women on Mission - Ongoing mission involvement and learning that extend across the globe. Group meets once a month. It is open to anyone who wants to be involved in missions. Mission projects have included: Pillow cases and knit hats for cancer patients, supplies for the Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons, books and supplies for local schools, and cookies for our police officers.

  • Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child - From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world.

  • Prisoner Packets - Many men, women and youth have no one who cares for them. They have no visitors, nor do they receive gifts at Christmas. You make Christmas special for them through this ministry. You provide hope and love. As a result, some have received the true Christmas gift - - they have come to know Christ because you care.

  • Backpacks - Mississippi River Ministry and Appalachian Regional Ministry work with more than 450 compassion ministry sites and church plants across 18 states to deliver backpacks filled with necessities, along with lots of gifts and goodies, to impoverished children at Christmas time.

  • The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® - Changes lives forever by empowering North American missionaries to bring the gospel to the lost. Join us on the mission to equip every missionary and reach every lost person in the United States and Canada.

  • The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® - Established to empower the international missions efforts for Southern Baptists. Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God.

  • The Janie Chapman Offering for State Missions – We, as South Carolina Baptists, have the opportunity to give and pray so that more may be “fed” – physically and spiritually, through a variety of ministries.

  • Monetary contributions to ACTS (Area Church’s Together Serving)

  • Portions of the net proceeds raised from our annual Pineapple Festival are donated to selected local charities.

  • Blessing Box - Take what you need, Leave what you can.
